From Wayne Whitaker, CEO, Southwest Arkansas Electric Cooperative,

While all of us are doing everything we can to protect ourselves and our families during the COVID-19 pandemic, I want to let you know that Southwest Arkansas Electric Cooperative (SWAECC) is here for you. Since 1937, it has been SWAECC’s mission to provide reliable electric service to our members because we know these services are vital for our member/consumers, their family, farm or business.

Because electric services are essential, SWAECC continually prepares for crisis scenarios, from pandemics to wind or ice storms, tornados, cyberattacks and more. We conduct annual emergency response preparedness exercises so we can think through how to handle various disruptions before they arise.

In order to keep our members and employees safe, we have closed our lobbies, scheduled some employees to work from home, divided “inside” employees into small work groups working different days, schedule our servicemen to leave from home for work since they can get their service orders directly to their iPad and divided the linemen into small work crews with the ability to not come in to the office for workorders since those can be sent directly to their iPad. In addition, SWAECC instituted measures to explain the importance of washing hands, social distancing, enhanced cleaning of all office areas including “fogging with disinfectant,” and explaining how important it is to not come to work if sick.

At the same time, we are committed to maintaining a high level of electric service to our members. Our crews continue to maintain and improve our electric system, repair outages and install new services. You can reach us through our toll-free numbers, SmartHub, website and social media. Further, you can manage your account or pay your bill through the SmartHub, kiosks at the headquarter and district offices, secure telephone number for credit card payments, money grams, bank drafts or direct credit card payments.

Also to help support those members in need, the Cooperative has temporarily suspended disconnects for non-payment and our consumer service representatives are ready to work out a delayed payment agreement on an as needed basis. Please call us at your earliest convenience.

I hope that you and your family are well.
